Robbers attack Internet game center

An owner of a Kaneohe Internet game center near Windward Mall said he and 10 customers defended the store and themselves against four robbers just before midnight Wednesday.

"Customers got some punches in, pulling them onto the ground, kicking them, and we got it all on camera, too," said Devin Wolery of PC Gamerz at 46-028 Kawa St.

Police caught an 18-year-old Kaneohe man and two 17-year-old boys, who allegedly took customers’ cash and Wolery’s cell phone. Wolery said a fourth suspect fled.

Wolery, 26, said the first two teens came in with shirts over their faces and said they had a problem with him.

Multiple suspects punched him in the face, neck and back, causing him to black out, and they pummeled him 10 to 15 more times, the surveillance video shows.

The two 17-year-olds then allegedly used physical force with customers and ordered them to empty their pockets, police said.

Man dies after crashing motorcycle

A 42-year-old Keaau man died yesterday from injuries sustained when his motorcycle crashed into a utility pole at Ainaloa Drive and Macadamia Street in the Ainaloa subdivision of Pahoa Wednesday night, Big Island police said.

The victim was identified as Todd M. Hart.

He was wearing a helmet. Hart was transported to the Hilo Medical Center by fire rescue personnel where he later died at 1:46 a.m. Police say they believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the man’s cause of death.
