Tadd Fujikawa is throwing his best stuff at the eGolf Tour’s flagship tournament.

After opening with a 65 Wednesday, the 19-year-old from Honolulu fired an 8-under-par 64 yesterday in the second round of the organization’s Tour Championship. His round tied the course record.

He takes a three-stroke lead over former PGA Tour player Matt Hendrix into today’s third round at Spring Creek Golf Course in Gordonsville, Va. Fujikawa has a six-shot lead over three players tied for third.

He birdied three of his first four holes yesterday, suffered his only bogey of the week on the fifth, then birdied six more on his way in.

"After a good round yesterday (Wednesday), I needed to get off to a good start and was able to do just that," Fujikawa said. "At the turn, I was satisfied with the way I played. The back nine was nice and I kept making putts. Overall it was pretty solid."

This is Fujikawa’s best 36-hole score as a professional. He turned pro in 2007, at age 16, after tying for 20th at that year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, becoming the youngest ever to make a PGA Tour cut.

This is his first full season on a professional tour.

He took a lead into the final day of the eGolf Tour’s Golf in Morocco Classic in March, but shot 82 and tied for 25th. In his next three starts he withdrew, tied for 38th and missed his only cut of the year.

"This is the most consistent golf I’ve played. I went through a stretch where I really struggled with my golf game," Fujikawa said. "I just tried to stay positive and work through it."

After tomorrow’s round, the top 20 players on the tour’s money list will have their PGA Tour Q-School entry paid for by eGolf. Fujikawa is currently 16th with $38,348 in 11 starts. He has three top-10 finishes.
