SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. >> Steven Gingery hit the go-ahead solo home run and got the pitching win today as the Ocean View of Huntington Beach, Calif., beat Waipio, 2-1, in the opening game for both teams of the Little League Western Regional.
Kaho’ea Akau hit a solo homer for Waipio in the first inning, but Ocean View tied it in the bottom of the first and Gingery’s fourth-inning homer completed the scoring.
Waipio continues pool play today against Napa National of Northern California.
