Three people were transported to the Hilo Medical Center yesterday after two cars collided at the intersection of Mamaki Street and Highway 11 in Puna.
According to Hilo police, a vehicle on Mamaki Street driven by a male in his 20s was hit by a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old male on Highway 11 headed toward Puna. Both drivers and an elderly female passenger were taken to the hospital.
Police closed the Puna-bound lanes of Highway 11 for more than three hours after the crash.
