Hawaii karaoke king Walter Omori, center, congratulated the Hawaii 2010 Talent Quest Country Music division finalists -- Natasha Achong, left, Janel Akana, Cynthia U'i Miles, Gary Montalbo, Dean Guzman and Michael Garcia -- on their performances after the final results were announced Aug. 1 at the Japanese Cultural Center. Miles and Montalbo won the final round and will represent Hawaii in a national karaoke competition Sept. 20-26 in Laughlin, Nev.

CBC AT MERCURY 4. Firecracker smoke was in the air as Cherry Blossom Cabaret members Miss Catwings, left, Kitty Chow and Miss T. Nasty celebrated CBC's fourth anniversary, and Kitty Chow's birthday, with a free show featuring improvised burlesque routines July 31 at the Mercury Bar. Miss T. Nasty was an instant audience favorite, performing with a beach ball to an MC Hammer song. Miss Catwings stole the show with her meticulously detailed costume, props and choreography for her solo number, "Cooties."

AND THE WINNERS ARE 5. Keith Haugen, right, emcee of the Hawaii 2010 Talent Quest, congratulated Tioni Tam Sing and Maka Esteban after they took top honors in the pop division Aug. 1 at the Japanese Cultural Center. Tam Sing and Esteban will join country winners Cynthia U'i Miles and Gary Montalbo in representing Hawaii next month in Nevada.

TIME TO SPEAK OUT! 3. Juliet Lighter, center, welcomed David Fung, left, Alyssa Fung, Patrick Gey and Marisa Gey to her music and art fundraiser for Women Speaking Out July 31 at the Venue. Lighter founded the organization to reduce sexual violence and abusive relationships in Hawaii.
