Maui firefighters put out a four-acre brush fire in Kahului

Maui firefighters extinguished a four-acre brush fire that burned vacant land today in Kahului.

The blaze started about 1:50 p.m. and was about half a mile off Mokulele Highway, but did not affect traffic, a Maui County news release said.

Firefighters from Kahului, Wailuku and Kihei contained the fire yesterday afternoon. No buildings were damaged and no one was injured. The cause has not been determined.
