Police look for man in Waianae sex assault

Police are looking for an man in his 20s or 30s who kidnapped a 27-year-old woman today and tried to sexually assault her in Waianae.

The woman told police she was walking on Bayview Street when it was still light outside when the man attacked. He grabbed her from behind, dragged her to a grassy area, and tried to sexually assault her shortly after 6 p.m., police said.

Able to push the man off, the woman ran home and called police.

Police described the man as in his 20s or 30s, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds with a slim build. Police opened an attempted first-degree sexual assault and kidnapping case.
