Aiea’s Ryan Kuroiwa will team with 1983 Hawaiian Open champion Isao Aoki this weekend at the Home Care & Hospice First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. The unique tournament is an official stop on the Champions Tour that pairs 78 seniors and 78 juniors.

Aoki is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame and probably best known in America for eagling the final hole with a 128-yard wedge shot to win the ’83 Open here.

Kuroiwa, 16, received an exemption for the tournament from the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. The exemption is awarded to a Hawaii State Junior Golf Association member in good standing, age 15-18, based on golf ability and, primarily, community service and "strength of character." Kuroiwa represented Hawaii on the 2010 Boys Junior America’s Cup Team and was a member of the USA Hawaii-Japan Junior Cup team.

All three rounds will be shown on The Golf Channel.

Fan wins D&B

Michael Fan rallied, shooting a 3-under-par 69 in breezy final-round conditions to overtake Wenhao Luo and win the Boys 15-18 division of the inaugural HSJGA Dave & Buster’s Junior Classic on Sunday at Waikele. Fan shot rounds of 74 and 69 to win by four shots.

Other division champs were Alice Kim (82-73), in Girls 15-18, and Colby Takushi (73-76) and Allisen Corpuz (76-73) in the 13-14 divisions. Corpuz is 12. Takushi won a scorecard match with John Oda.
