Fujikawa 10th in eGolf event

Hawaii’s Tadd Fujikawa finished 10th yesterday at the eGolf Professional Tour’s Manor Classic in Farmville, Va. Fujikawa fired a final-round 70 to finish at 1-under-par 283. He won $2,520.

Former Walker Cup player Brian Harman closed with a 68 to win his first professional title. His four-day total was 272.

Hawaii-Hilo wins 2 in tourney

Hawaii-Hilo won two matches yesterday in the Hawaii Pacific Equus Challenge women’s volleyball tournament in Honolulu.

The Vulcans rallied back to beat Texas Woman’s University 25-14, 26-28, 23-25, 26-24, 15-8.

Hillary Hurley had 24 kills and Kawena Cubi-Otineru added 15 to lead the way for UHH.

In addition, the Vulcans, led by Hurley’s 16 kills, swept Montana State-Billings 25-19, 25-16, 25-16.

Hawaii-Hilo improved to 5-2 with the two wins.

Seattle Pacific beats isle teams

Sarah Risser had 15 kills to lead Seattle Pacific to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 win over Chaminade yesterday at McCabe Gym n the Equus Challenge.

Allie Board had a team-high nine kills for the Silverswords (2-4).

The Falcons also defeated Hawaii Pacific last night, 25-23, 26-24, 25-18.

Risser once again led the way for SPU with 13 kills. Kelly Balanay had 11 kills for the Sea Warriors (6-1).

BYUH takes second in cross country

Brigham Young Hawaii finished in second place yesterday at the BYU-Hawaii Invitational men’s cross country race in Laie.

The Seasiders finished behind Alaska Anchorage. Hawaii Pacific was third, followed by George Fox University, Hawaii-Hilo and Chaminade.

Mark Chesto of UAA won the 8-kilometer race in 25 minutes, 10 seconds. The Seawolves took the top six places.

Matthew Gulden of BYUH took seventh place in 26:25.

Hawaii Pacific’s Anders Ludvigsen finished eighth.

Rainbow Wahine second in women’s meet

Hawaii finished second in the BYU-Hawaii Invitational women’s cross country race yesterday.

Ashley Aiken led the Rainbow Wahine with a third-place finish (18:15) in the 5K course.

Alaska Anchorage, led by Ruth Keino’s victory in 17 minutes, 47 seconds, won the event.

Host BYUH took third, followed by Hawaii Pacific, George Fox, Chaminade and Hawaii-Hilo.

Other finishers in the top 10 from Hawaii colleges were Hawaii Pacific’s Frida Aspnas in fifth and Hawaii’s Keveyn Murphy and Alison Williams in eighth and ninth.
