Kauai firefighters extinguished a fire yesterday at a storage building behind FM97 in Puhi that started in an old Dodge van parked, according to a Kauai County news release.

The fire spread to building materials stored nearby on several wooden pallets and scorched the 200-square-foot storage/restroom building.

Fire officials estimate damages to the vehicle, building materials and the storage/restroom building to be around $10,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
