Duffy Okimoto and her husband, Darren, of the Kapahulu area stopped at Wahine Park during their vacation in New Zealand last month. Wahine, which means “woman” in both the Maori and Hawaiian languages, was also the name of a ferry that sank in Wellington harbor in 1968, killing 53 passengers. The seaside park commemorates the tragedy.
