HONOLULU — The state has launched an automated telephone directory that will ease the way for callers to reach executive and legislative branch offices.

The new system started Friday and can be reached from Oahu telephones by calling 808-586-2211.

Calls from the neighbor islands can reach the same line by calling 808-974-4000, extension 62211 and then the "pound" sign.

Callers can reach the governor’s and legislators’ offices, as well as the Department of Education, the University of Hawaii and county government offices, among others.

Correction: An earlier version of this story had an incorrect number for Oahu callers.
