DNA test results in car break-in charge against OCCC inmate
Police used DNA evidence to help them identify a suspect in three automobile break-ins from over a year ago.
Russell Robert Lee, 34, is awaiting trial at the Oahu Community Correctional Center for an unrelated offense. Yesterday, Lee was arrested at OCCC by a police detective in connection with the three break-ins that took place in Portlock on July 5, 2009.
Police said the suspect was identified through analysis of DNA evidence recovered at the scene. A DNA search warrant was obtained and the suspect was swabbed for further DNA analysis and identification, police said.
Lee was charged with three counts of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
