Magnitude 3.9 quake recorded off Big Island

A earthquake registering 3.9 was recorded off the Big Island’s Hamakua Coast at 3:11 p.m. today, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. No tsunami was generated.

The quake was centered about 4.3 miles northwest of Honokaa.

A Hawaii County civil defense officials said their office received only a few calls from residents. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
