Makaha drowning victim identified as Texas man

A 60-year-old man who died Tuesday after running into trouble in waters off Makaha Beach has been identified as Harold Huber of Texas.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s officer identified Huber and said an autopsy detrmined that he drowned.

Huber was caught in a rip current and pulled from shore near the Makaha Beach Cabanas complex about 2:25 p.m., a city Department of Emergency Services spokesman said.

Beachgoers brought him back to shore and performed CPR on him until paramedics arrived. Huber died at the hospital.
