Five men in a rental car were arrested this morning after a burglary in Kaneohe.

Officers responding to a security alarm on Pulama Road caught the men in the car about 3:45 a.m.

Police said an initial officer on the scene saw a 33-year-old man jump over a driveway gate and into a gold Toyota Camry, police said.

Officers stopped the car, which had four other men — ages 34, 20, 24, and 24 — inside.

The resident returned home, confirmed his home was broken into, and identified his black backpack in the back seat of the car.

He also reported a handgun registered to him was missing, police said.

Police arrested all five men on suspicion of first-degree theft and the man who jumped the gate on an additional charge of first-degree burglary.

Only the 20-year-old man gave police an address: Ahonui Street in Kalihi.

Police seized the rental car, which wasn’t reported stolen.
