‘Iolani broke the record for most points in a Hawaii state tournament football final, dominating Kaimuki 49-14 at Aloha Stadium on Friday.

It it the fourth consecutive Division II championship for the Raiders and fifth in the last six years.

‘Iolani broke the scoring record held by Punahou, which beat Leilehua 38-7 in the Division I final in 2008.

Raiders sophomore Reece Foy threw five touchdown passes.

‘Iolani of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu finished the year 9-3. Kaimuki of the Oahu Interscholastic Association ended at 12-2.

Foy completed 20 of 24 passes for 297 yards. Two of his touchdown passes went to Dane Andrews, for 20 and 15 yards.

Foy’s five touchdown passes is the most for a player in any state championship final or Oahu Prep Bowl, going back to 1973 when the first Prep Bowl was played. John Hao of Saint Louis threw four touchdown passes in the 1989 Prep Bowl.

The Raiders attack was far from all Foy, though. Ammon Baldomero rushed for 105 yards on 23 carries, including a 1-yard TD that gave ‘Iolani a 7-0 lead after a scoreless first quarter.

Then Scott Tan recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Two plays later, ‘Iolani scored on a double-reverse flea flicker pass from Foy to Trevyn Tulonghari for 34 yards.

‘Iolani increased the lead to 21-0 on Foy’s 22-yard pass to Baldomero with 25 seconds left before halftime.

The Raiders rolled for 472 yards compared to 272 for Kaimuki.

Chester Sua, the Bulldogs star running back, rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries.

Nahoa Spencer completed 9 of 17 passes for 11 1 yards and a 1-yard touchdown to Mason Kualii-Moe.

Kaimuki also got a 68-yard touchdown on a 68-yard pass from Wiseman Demei to Kevin Tofiga.

But ‘Iolani kept the pressure on, and Foy’s 33-yard touchdown pass to Josiah Sukumaran made it 42-14 late in the third quarter.
