Speakers will discuss ties between America and Japan
Hiroshima Gov. Hidehiko Yuzaki, U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye and the U.S. Pacific Command’s Adm. Robert Willard will be among the speakers at an Asia-Pacific symposium this week.
The symposium, titled "The Road Ahead for U.S.-Japan Collaboration in the Asia Pacific Region," marks the 50th anniversary of the U.S.-Japan Treaty of Mutual Cooperation.

The symposium is free to members of the Hawaii United Okinawa Association, Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Pacific and Asian Affairs Council, Pacific Forum CSIS and the United Japanese Society of Hawaii. The discussion will focus on sustaining the alliance, as well as exploring Hawaii’s relationship with Japan, particularly in the context of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum that will be held in Honolulu next year.

Clean-energy initiatives and business opportunities with Okinawa will also be discussed, according to a news release from the Japan-America Society of Hawaii.
