Shoplifting suspect assaulted worker, police say
Police arrested a 40-year-old Hawaii Kai woman yesterday after she allegedly tried to steal a wallet from an Ala Moana Center store and assaulted an employee who tried to stop her.
The woman hid a wallet on her person and walked out the store without paying for it at 11:37 a.m. yesterday, police said. The woman assaulted an employee, a 32-year-old woman, who tried to detain her and recover the stolen item.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery. She was released pending investigation.
