Washington ends Hawaii’s season in straight sets
Junior hitter Kanani Danielson put down 10 kills but it wasn’t enough as Washington upset No. 7 Hawaii 25-17, 25-11, 25-23 in tonight’s second round of the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament in Seattle.
The host Huskies (23-8) got 18 kills from Kindra Carlson to advance to next week’s regional semifinal against No. 2 Nebraska, also in Seattle.
Danielson added 11 digs and Elizabeth Ka’aihue finished her career with a match-high 21 digs for the Rainbow Wahine (29-3).
It was the first time since 2007 that Hawaii didn’t advance past the second round.
