Suspect in beating and theft arrested
A 47-year-old Waianae man who allegedly hit an older man with a beer bottle while an accomplice stole the victim’s car was arrested Wednesday at his home.
Police said the suspect hit the 54-year-old man in the head with the bottle and punched and kicked him in Wahiawa at about 2:05 a.m. Nov. 1.
When the victim got up, he noticed his vehicle and keys missing. Officers spotted a second suspect driving the vehicle later that day and arrested him.
The man who allegedly beat the victim was arrested by Waianae Crime Reduction Unit officers on Farrington Highway at 10:45 a.m. He was booked on suspicion of first-degree robbery and first-degree assault.
3 people in custody after Hilo brawl
Big Island police arrested two men and a woman allegedly involved in a fight Wednesday night outside the Puainako Street Longs Drug Store in Hilo.
South Hilo patrol officers, responding to a report of the affray, found a 31-year-old Hilo man with a head injury, and a 23-year-old Pahoa man and a 28-year-old Pahoa woman who were also injured at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police arrested all three people. The Hilo man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal property damage and third-degree assault. The Pahoa man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal property damage, second-degree assault and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. The woman was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault.
