Rainbow Warriors trail No. 21 Cougars 43-27 at halftime in Salt Lake City
The Hawaii men’s basketball team trails No. 21 BYU 43-27 at halftime at EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City.
BYU’s preseason All-America guard, Jimmer Fredette, was held to six points in the period. But teammates Stephen Rogers and Logan Magnusson combined for 20 points for the unbeaten Cougars.
UH coach Gib Arnold went with a very young and previously unseen starting lineup with three true freshmen.
Bobby Miles got his first start at point guard over Hiram Thompson, Bo Barnes started over Zane Johnson at shooting guard, and Trevor Wiseman got the nod at small forward.
UH scored first, but the Cougars rattled off a 10-0 run. BYU stayed ahead behind its 3-point shooting and gradually built a comfortable lead.
