Officer is allegedly bitten by Waikiki drug suspect

A Waikiki drug suspect allegedly bit a Honolulu police officer trying to arrest the 41-year-old man yesterday, police said.

The officer was treated at a nearby hospital, police said.

Officers tried to arrest the man for suspected drug possession at 1:29 p.m. yesterday when he allegedly became combative, resisted arrest and bit one of the officers, police said.

The man was arrested for investigation of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, promotion of a detrimental drug, resisting arrest and a contempt warrant.
