Police opened a first-degree arson case Friday night after a report that someone threw an apparent Molotov cocktail at a car in Makiki.

A woman called police at 6:54 p.m. to report that someone threw a glass bottle at a car. The bottle burst into flames in the parking lot of First Christian Church of Honolulu at 1516 Kewalo St.

Firefighters found rubbish on fire next to the car and extinguished the flames, said Honolulu Fire Capt. Gary Lum. He said the fire didn’t damage any property and that the cause was not determined.
