No, not body art. Not random strips of tape, either.
KT Tape is trending. And it’s therapeutic.
You’ve seen it worn by the Rainbow Wahine volleyball players. You may have seen it on marathoners Sunday.
Kinesiology Therapeutic (KT) Tape is becoming one of the most popular — and useful — additions to any gym bag or locker. It is colorful sports medicine in a roll, a great way to apply stability and support around a joint without restricting range of motion.
The elastic tape comes in 16 colors — the most popular being black and hot pink — and the Utah-based company just launched its line of team colors.
"We went through all the major leagues and college conferences, looking for the best color combinations," said Jim Jenson, KT Tape’s VP of Sales & Marketing, who had a booth at last week’s Honolulu Marathon Expo. "Those will be on the market the first couple of months of 2011.

"It’s a true all-sport product. It’s perfect for endurance sports, basketball, soccer, football, all water and action sports. A lot of surfers, skaters and fighters are using it and we’re the official sponsor for USA Water Polo."
And it’s fool proof. Instructions come in the package and taping techniques for various injuries also are available online.
Each box comes with 20 precut 10-inch strips attached in a roll. Each strip can last up to five days with the removal about as painless as taking off a Band-aid.
A roll normally retails for $12.99 and is available locally at sporting goods stores.
