Police officer runs over pedestrian’s foot
Honolulu police have initiated a negligent injury case after a police subsidized vehicle apparently ran over the foot of a pedestrian on Pahoa Avenue on Saturday night.
According to police, a 22-year-old man was walking north on the shoulder of Pahoa Avenue near 21st Avenue when he attempted to cross the street and was struck by the officer’s vehicle, a 2003 Mustang, which was heading west on Pahoa.
Police said the left side of the car’s fender struck the pedestrian; the pedestrian’s left foot was run over by at least one of the tires.
The pedestrian was taken to Queen’s Medical Center with a broken foot.
Police said speed, alcohol and drugs were not factors. The incident occurred in clear but dimly lit conditions.
