Big Isle police seek man who allegedly punched officer

Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 33-year-old man wanted for assaulting a police officer.

A police officer tried to arrest Jayse Lee Wednesday night on outstanding warrants. During the arrest, Lee allegedly punched the officer in the left eye and then fled on foot.

Lee is described as 5 feet 5, 280 pounds with short, black hair. His last known address was in Hilo. 

Police warn the public not to approach Lee, who is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on Lee’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 935-3311. 

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
