The City of Honolulu is urging residents to recycle their Christmas trees after the holidays.

The Department of Environmental Services says households with city collection should place bare trees — without flocking, ornaments or tinsel — curbside as part of their normal green waste pickup.

The city says trees should be trimmed and cut to fit inside green waste carts with the lids closed.

If cutting the tree is a bother, residents can drop it off whole at the nearest refuse convenience center.
