Results of Honolulu council race to be released tonight

Ballots for the special election to fill the Leeward Oahu Council seat must be received by 6 p.m. today.

Results of the 14-candidate race will be released tonight, shortly after the ballot deadline.

The results will be released after ballots are counted at the Mission Memorial Auditorium, located next to City Hall.

More than 10,550 ballots have been returned by voters as of Monday afternoon. Ballots can still be dropped off at the City Clerk’s Office today.

Results also will be posted at www.honoluluelections.us.

The all-mail election will decide who succeeds former Councilman Todd Apo, who resigned last month to take a job with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

The district includes Ewa, West Loch, Kapolei, Honokai Hale, Ko Olina, Maili, Waianae, Keaau and Makua.
