Honolulu City Council to be sworn in today

The nine-member Honolulu City Council is due to have four new members after a swearing-in ceremony today.

Monday’s inauguration is due to be held in the council chamber at Honolulu Hale.

The four were elected to four year terms during last fall’s primary and general elections.

They are lawyer Stanley Chang, former Board of Education member Breene Harimoto, city administrator Ernie Martin, and former state representative Tulsi Tamayo.

Tom Berg, who won a special election last week for former council chairman Todd Apo’s seat, is due to be sworn in on Jan. 18.

Berg is due to serve out the last two years of Apo’s term. Apo resigned in November to take a job with Disney Parks and Resorts.
