Skip Akina, a record-setting Punahou School quarterback in the 1960s and member of a prominent athletic family, died yesterday, family members said.
He was 62 and had been battling lymphoma for more than a year.
Skip was the oldest of five brothers — Gary, Robin, Duane and Shawn — who excelled in sports. Duane, a former University of Washington quarterback and basketball player, is an assistant football coach at the University of Arizona.
Skip played football, basketball and baseball at Punahou, where he was a 1967 graduate.
