A 17-year-old boy died this morning and his 17-year-old passenger was in serious condition after their Toyota pickup truck crossed the center line on Kaumualii Highway on Kauai and hit a guardrail, Kauai officials said today.
The one-vehicle crash occurred around 1 a.m. on Kaumualii Highway near Manu Road, officials said. The pickup was traveling westbound on Kaumualii Highway.
The names of the two boys are being withheld, officials said.
The driver was ejected in the collision and died at the scene, officials said. His passenger was taken to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea in serious condition.
