Kalihi Street reopened after suspicious object found to be harmless
A Kalihi property owner discovered a 3-foot cylinder rocket motor with propellant yesterday afternoon, touching off fears about an explosive device.
Police shut down Kalihi Street from 5:40 p.m. to 6:55 p.m. while Navy explosive ordnance personnel removed the device.
Police said the cylinder had no explosive parts or anything that could have caused it to detonate.
The owner had been cleaning out his property located at 274 Kalihi St. in preparation to sell it when he discovered the device.
