No. 9 Oregon blanks Hawaii
Oregon right-hander Madison Boer threw eight shutout innings and Jack Marder went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the ninth-ranked Ducks to a 4-0 victory over Hawaii today in front of a Les Murakami Stadium crowd of 2,477.
Boer took a no-hitter into the seventh when Kolten Wong hit a one-out single to right. Wong was thrown out trying to steal third to end the inning, allowing the Ducks to maintain a 3-0 lead.
Marder hit an RBI double in the eighth for the final score.
Boer was pulled after the eighth inning, allowing one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts.
UH starter Alex Capaul allowed three runs (two earned) in six innings to take the loss. He allowed an RBI single to Tyler Kuresa in the second and J.J. Altobelli scored a run in the fourth after a leadoff double.
Hawaii (2-1) will send Jesse Moore to the mound tomorrow to try and win the series. The Ducks (1-2) are expected to counter with Alex Keudell.
