Hawaii students competing in ocean sciences bowl
High school students from across Hawaii and Guam are competing this weekend in the annual regional ocean sciences bowl.
The Saturday event at the Hawaii Convention Center will bring together teams of students interested in pursuing a college degree or future career in ocean sciences.
The winning team will compete against 24 other regional champions at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl in April in Texas.
The purpose of the bowl is to encourage the next generation of marine scientists, policy makers, teachers, researchers, technicians and environmental advocates to appreciate the ocean.
