Leaders of Hawaii’s public safety, defense and accounting departments have been confirmed by the state Senate.

The Senate on Friday unanimously approved Jodie Maesaka-Hirata as director for the Department of Public Safety, Maj. Gen. Gen. Darryll Wong as the state’s adjutant general and Bruce Coppa as comptroller for the Department of Accounting and General Services.

Maesaka-Hirata was the acting warden for the Waiawa Correctional Facility before Gov. Neil Abercrombie appointed her to lead the Department of Public Safety.

Wong has served as chief of staff of the Hawaii Air National Guard and commander for the Hawaii Air National Guard at Hickam Air Force Base.

Coppa founded a boutique management-consulting firm, and he previously served as chief operating officer for Communications Pacific and executive director for Pacific Resource Partnership.
