Hawaii’s Michelle Wie shot a 5-under-par 68 in the opening round of the Kia Classic today at the Industry Hills Golf Club, just out of Los Angeles.
Wie was alone in third when she finished with less than half the field still out.
The leader is Amanda Blumenherst, who shot a 66 in the morning. Sandra Gal is next at 67.
Wie was the only other golfer to break 70.
Wie missed four birdie putts of inside 10 feet on the front nine, where she shot 1-under 37. But had five birdies on the back.
She had seven birdies and two bogeys in all.
