The nonprofit Hawaii Public Radio Inc. will fire up its newest radio station Friday, on Maui. KIPM-FM 89.7 will rebroadcast the signal of Oahu’s KIPO-FM 89.3.

The station, licensed to Waikapu, has been in the planning for more than a decade as part of Hawaii Public Radio’s goal to have both of its program streams reach a statewide audience.
