UH softball: Wahine swept by Fresno State

Two swings provided all of Fresno State’s scoring and the Bulldogs swept a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader against Hawaii today at Bulldog Diamond.

Andrea Ortega hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning of the first game to lift Fresno State to a 2-1 win. Another two-run shot by Nicole Angene with one out in the sixth inning of the finale was the difference in the Bulldogs’ 2-0 victory.

Michelle Moses, who threw a no-hitter against UH on Friday, earned a save in today’s opener then tossed a complete-game two-hitter in the second game as the Bulldogs (22-8, 6-0 WAC) completed a three-game sweep.

UH sophomore Kaia Parnaby struck out eight and took the loss for UH (25-12, 3-3) in the opener. Stephanie Ricketts went the distance in the second game, giving up four hits while striking out six and walking five. UH was swept in a series for the first time since dropping three straight in Fresno in 2008.
