Infant found locked in closed vehicle

Police are investigating the case of a 5-month-old girl who was hospitalized after being locked in a vehicle in Haleiwa for several hours at about noon Monday.

The girl was found unconscious after being left alone in an enclosed, locked vehicle “for several hours,” police said.

She was taken from the parking lot at the Haleiwa Joe’s restaurant on Kamehameha Highway to a nearby hospital in very serious condition at 12:11 p.m., a spokeswoman for the city Department of Emergency Services said.

The girl’s father, 41, is being investigated for second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor but has not been arrested.

Man beaten and car stolen at park

A man reported being beaten and robbed of his vehicle by four men at a Waimanalo park yesterday morning.

Police said the victim, 43, pulled into a local park to rest at about 2:50 a.m. after driving around the island. He said he was approached by unknown men, one of whom struck him with a blunt instrument. Another man then took his vehicle and drove away while the others fled on foot, police said.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.
