Violinist to perform Jewish melodies
Chabad of Hawaii is presenting an evening of Jewish music by renowned master violinist Lior Kaminetsky next Saturday at 8 p.m. on the ground floor of the Ala Moana Hotel.
Kaminetsky specializes in classical music, klezmer and ancient Hassidic melodies, though he has a broad repertoire across musical genres. There will be a special interactive session for musicians who would like to play with him; attendees are invited to bring their instruments.
Kaminetsky has received various awards from the Universite De Sorbonne and the Schwerin Academy, the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation, the Nowakowsky Foundation and the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, a Chabad announcement said.
The concert will be held in the former Hawaiian Hut nightclub, to the right of the main entrance to the hotel. Admission is $18 in advance and $25 at the door. Student and senior discounts are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
Chabad is also seeking sponsors for the event. For tickets and information, call 735-8161 or email chabadhawaii@aol.com.
