Marshmallow musubi

If eating Peeps right out of the box no longer fills your Easter basket, trick it up with crispy rice cereal bars and rolled fruit snacks to make a familiar-looking treat. For sushi rolls, soften the cereal bars in the microwave and flatten them out for rolling with Peeps, jelly beans or other sweet fillings. Peeps is the top-selling nonchocolate candy sold at Easter (and yellow the most popular color). Candymaker Just Born says it produces enough of the sugar-coated marshmallow candies in one year to circle the Earth twice. For recipes, visit www.justborn.com/just-for-fun/recipes

Lush’s Easter gifts are a lovely smelling option

With Easter around the corner, Lush is offering a more practical alternative to calorie-filled chocolate eggs this year. Lush’s Easter-themed bath-and-body products are much kinder to the waistline and the environment.

Some options are a Hippy Chick Bath Bomb ($4.95) in the shape of a chick; a Candy Fluff Egg Bath Bomb ($6.95, pictured at right) with the scent of marshmallows, candy and jelly beans; and a Happy Easter Gift ($24.95) of a hollow bath bomb egg containing a Hippy Chick bath bomb, ready to hatch.

In addition, Lush is aiding in the Japan relief effort by selling limited-edition products, with all proceeds going to Peace Boat, a nonprofit that has been organizing volunteers, transporting aid and providing hot meals to those affected by the disaster.
