Let’s start off by talking about endings. Like the ending of tonight’s episode “Ua Hiki Mai Kapalena Pau.” How many of you were screaming at your televisions? I mean, come on “Hawaii Five-0” how can you leave us hanging? The bad guy comes back and basically sacrifices himself to the Five-0 Team? And the preview for next week? I’m going to spend the rest of my week wondering how this season is going to end. Will I get my McGarrett happily ever after? Or will the ending just leave me hanging? Or just wanting more, more, MORE? Oh, what a tangled web they weave.

Tonight, faithful readers and fans of “Hawaii Five-0,” marks the prelude to the end — the last new episode before we reach the season finale. And like many of you, I am hanging on with bated breath for the answers to all of our questions and to the many theories that have been swirling around the web these last few weeks. Will we get the resolution that we so patiently have been waiting for through the weeks of repeats and months with one or two new teaser episodes? I know we’re tired of mega-star guests who die within minutes and monopolize our screens to take us away from the real reason we tune in — more, more, MORE of our Fearless Four and the knowledge of all things Champ Box, Wo Fat, and of course — Chin Ho.

And tonight we are again left with more questions than answers. Can “Hawaii Five-0” torture us with more “tune in next week” when next week is IT? The End. At least until Season Two starts in the fall. We’re still waiting on the confirmation of that question as well. But yes, my Five-0 Fanatics — they can torture us. Dangle their twisted plots and surprise turn of events in front of us and know they can. Thankfully, it’s always such a good ride, and we will always be back for more.

But back to the theme of tonight — the end is near. The end of the season for sure, and we hope not the end of our Five-0 Team — though tonight was definitely a close call. Too close for our Danno, and almost too close for our conflicted Chin Ho. How many of you were sighing with relief when IAB Chairman David Akahoshi, played by Duane Char, came in to clear Chin, as well as pronounce Honolulu and Hawai‘i correctly? You can all put your hands down now.

  • Many of the TV shows’ finale end that way. Recently, “Criminal Minds,” “Chase,” “The Mentalist,” etc. That’s what corporate media calls “A Hook.” It’s all about money and ratings.

  • wow wendie im still wired form that episode- i had to spit out my water when i read that you were wondering if she was gonna crash (rachael) or blow up while driving away. That was exactly what I was thinking also!! “oh no this is a long drive away–something is gonna happen and then they roll to the credits” but it didnt happen. there is a bunch of stuff that was excellent here. Agent Kaye finally starts to show the team what shes made of and it was sooo cool to see MCG as her mentor and big bro handcuffing her to the car and also when he took a back seat and allowed her to do the questioning – as he stood there proudly smirking at her keen insight. Danny and Rachael–priceless. Steve and Gracie–really priceless!!! Next weeks promo had me up till 3 am!!! Is it a set up by sing thru wo-fat and is steve on to it and setting the bait? wow– scott caan says that our hearts are gonna go boom when we watch the finale– I CAN NOT WAIT! Does Danno and family hop a plane to Jersey during the last scene? wow , so many questions – I wonder how much of it gets resolved? From what Ive seen so far theyre gonna give us alot to think about over the summer!

    • I hope this is Duane Char! You are super in the role! Thanks for commenting. You are very commanding, yet you also bring a bit of compassion to the character, which is nice for us since we’ve heard so many horror stories about IAB 🙂 Great job! Thanks for reading:)

      • Hi Wendie, yes, it’s me, and I do want to thank you for supporting the show with this blog. I try to read it weekly. It’s nice that local fans can build a network to enjoy the show. Now, I do want to say I also enjoy Burl’s Book ’em blog too. I know some people think he gets caustic, but he points out some important things with regards to continuity problems that the show (or any other show for that matter) does have.

        Keep up the good work!

  • Could anyone else tell from the preview just what Steve gets in trouble for? I mean its obviously something the Governor can’t get him out of or even save 5-0 from

  • Until the End is Near! A very apropo title. Looks like the end is near for a lot of things on H-50! This was quite an episode – from start to finish! I know there was a crime in the middle of it, but who cares? Looks like some of the 180s were realized last night! Danny, our lovable ranter, is not longer alone on an island he hates, he has regained the love of his life (at least, for the time being, but I sure hope they don’t turn this into a soap opera!). Life is good at the moment. Noble Chin is exonerated from all guilt over the stolen money, and even though he is not happy about it, he’s not going to jail anytime soon!

Okay, Agent Kaye can stay – for now. She pulled her weight last night, and apparently is accepted by the rest of the team. It’s true, the more we see of her the more believable she becomes.

Why couldn’t we have had just a nice brotherly hug and fade to the credits? Sang Min’s appearance in their offices threw me, that’s for sure! Not prepared for that one. We had to get thrown right into what’s coming in the finale. I can wait, because I sure don’t want to face 4 months of nothing new but umpteen theories! Oh, well, I’ll learn to deal with it, I’m sure!

Thanks for the great blog, Wendie, and this great place you give us to vent and spew!

  • Great job on the recap.. and I was definalty thinking the same exact thing when Rachel drove away .. but I am not liking Kaye I don’t feel like she fits into the team

  • Wendie,

As usual a very good review and insights. Am definitely anxious about the season finale next Monday. I feel somewhat safe in thinking that it will be renewed for another season. There are so many loose ends, that it will not be possible to tie them all up in one show. That leaves us almost for certain with a cliffhanger. That being said tonight’s show was a very good one. CIA agent looks to being more trustworthy, but I am not totally there yet. Glad we got Chin Ho back for good. No way will Wo Fat will be neutralized next week. I was also waiting for Rachel’s car to explode. Great Five0 minds think alike.

  • Wendie..great blog as usual. My main thought about this episode was in all the relationships on the show. Building new ones with Jenna and the team. Rebuilding relationships between Danny and Rachel and Chin and HPD. Fortifying the relationship between Steve and Danny. The scene at the end when Danny comes back to HQ was the kicker. You see what these people have come to mean to each other. A calculated move by TPTB to makes us warm and comfortable so they can pull the rug out from under us in the finale. This “fracture” will hurt all the more for the closeness being felt before hand. This finale is going to epic…I just hope we all survive it.

  • My heart was racing the whole time! This was by far one of the best yet!! They went a bit of course the last couple of episodes.I loved your blog! I never for one second thought about Rachel’s car blowing up!! Please Grace was in the back seat!! There would be a lot of people unhappy to see that happen! I love them together! She hasn’t been on in awhile, so it was nice to see her again. What can I say about scenes for next weeks season finale!! It’s gonna be crazy! So many storylines and only 44minutes of showtime! Love the recaps! Keep them coming!

  • Hi Wendie sorry I guess I’m the last to place my comment here been a busy day for all of us – still reeling from last night’s episode and taking it all in. Well a few things thankfully did get resolved for me that Danny and Rachel have reconciled of sorts. That hospital scene was soo cute and so warm and friendly and when Steve walked into the hospital room there was a surprised look on his face with a sheepish Danny unable to explain about the scene.

The pick up Grace from school by uncle Steve was touching since we know from the earlier episodes that Grace and Danny had lots of discussions about reckless uncle Steve but I think that she has now warmed up to the people around her father and mother. Her role as a worried eight year old was cute and Teilor Grubbs has been doing a great job with her little cameo throughout the season. So hopefully now with season 2, Danny will now have a good reason to stay in Hawaii and I’m sure that eventually Rachel’s former marriage to “Stan” will eventually come to an end.

Chin thank goodness eventually got his name cleared albeit under a great deal of duress but at least, thankfully and hopefully it will be put to rest once and for all. I think Kono stepping in and talking to her cousin made it very clear that his idea of using the money he borrowed would put the matter to rest was not going to work and I think from the previous hearing they suspected he was covering up for his uncle. I think it was very honorable that the IA did not agree to keep the money despite the fact that they checked against the serial numbers from the missing money. I also think that Kono won’t be seen as a rookie copy for Season 2.

Although in the preview of next week, Chin gets an offer to work with HPD, does he accept? What choice will he have but to accept….since Steve is under arrest and here’s a chance for Chin to perhaps wear a badge that could help save McGarrett but I think the other former “Five-0’s” won’t abandon Steve. Hard to imagine that they won’t be Five-0 next week. How is it possible to have come this far. But that’s tv, eventually the team will bounce back for season 2 which seems so far away. Trying to recall whether Peter Lenkov said that they write each episode to the finish and not have a “to be continued” but who knows with the final episode of the season whether we will see the “to be continued” for season two, I’m secretively hoping that we will see a conclusion for episode 24!! So that we can all relax, enjoy the summer and be ready for season 2 but it’s a big Wish on my part.

  • Thanks for the great blog, Wendie
    .

    I
was also relieved that Chin is now in the clear and that the whole story line is
hopefully behind us – it seemd way too contrived and unrealistic anyway.

    The
previews for next week’s episode make me worry that it might be a little too
over the top. It is only the end of the first season and that is way too early
to “jump the shark.” Keeping my fingers
    crossed.

Also, very cool that Mr. Char
commented on here. Nice (though brief) performance – very
    believable.

    Keep up the good work
    Wendie.

  • Yep, I totally thought the same thing about Rachel…I was waiting for the big crash or boom or something!!!

Awesome blog yet again, WJ!!! 🙂

  • Another fantastic post Wendie!!! I just have to say the 2 thoughts that popped into your head when Rachel was driving away were the EXACT same 2 that popped into mine LOL. I’m SO excited to see what happens next week but I’m also dreading it….it’s gonna be a LONG summer!

  • Another great blog on my fav show! I’m not sure I can watch next weeks show! I hate cliffhangers, and I’m betting there is one! Loved this last episode. I too am not sure about Danny and Rachel getting back together, where would our angry Danny be if he’s all lovey dovey? I guess we’ll find out.

  • Wow! I can’t believe anyone really likes this program. The only reason I watch is for the brief yet scenic shots of my beloved island. The plots are dull, the story lines boring and the characters not believable. Didn’t this redux learn anything from it’s superior predecessor. They still stereotype the natives as low brow beach bum snitches. And yes, people do wear suits and ties on these islands. The head of Hawaii’s Special Police Task Force wearing t-shirts, cargo pants and chukkas. Sheesh, give me a break. Jack Lord commanded respect when he chased down and fought criminals with his two piece on. I guess they don’t pay this McGarrett enough to afford a suit and a razor.

  • Thanks Wendie for a great blog this was one of the best episode of the season!
I’m still wondering why Jenna and Chin both not overcome by the sarin both touched Danny when he was he was sitting breathless!! outside the house.Love worrying Steve and how cute was it he picked up Gracie and we got a “Uncle Steve” for the first time my Five-O heart melted.Futher the episode was packed with action and solving Chin case so glad he didn’t go to jail. The hug between McDanno was so adorable that I hated Sang-Min for a min that he walked in LOLAfter watching the preview for the final here are my two cents about it!!I think the assistant of the Governor will die… Steve will go to far to try to take Wo Fat and he get the blame for her dead. The Governor can not longer protect Five-O so the truth will come out about the missing of the 10 million dollars and Steve and Kono will getting arrested for it Chin will go back to HPD only to stay close to Kono and Steve. Danny will have to try to clear their names and try to get Wo Fat all he wants is that Five-O will back together but this will be a cliffhanger for next season I’m afraid 🙁

  • Wow…I guess our blogger doesn’t make this clear enough, so just in case you missed it, she has NOTHING TO DO with Hawaii Five-0 or CBS and really doesn’t have any say in what happens on the show. Maybe you should take your comments over to the CBS website where someone may actually care about it, doubtful, but you never know!! I agree with Joey, you should probably take yourself elsewhere because this blog is for FANS of the show and we don’t need haters like you coming over here & insulting us and the millions of people that watch this show every Monday night. You have the right to your opinion but this particular opinion belongs elsewhere. I’m sure there’s an “I Hate The New Hawaii Five-0” Fan Club somewhere out there that you can post stuff like this to your heart’s content, if not, feel free to start one of your own.

    • So a sloppy-looking cop is representative of this decade? Alex is playing a character that was played by someone else, so there are going to comparisons made. This is not about “getting with the decade.”

    • No we are not paid by the show nor are we simpletons. We happen to be fans of the show and appreciate constructive comments about both the show and the interaction with the local culture. Wendie adds to my understanding of Five0 and participants on this blog treat everyone with respect and appreciation of their views.   Thank you for your concise comments.

    • Seriously, why are you bothering this poor woman?? No one is forcing you to read this blog & no one is forcing you to watch the show.  If someone is standing over you with a gun pointed at your head, please let us know so we can call 911 for you.  Wendie is not the pathetic one, you are because you obviously get off on hating on other people.  This world has seriously become a sad, sad place when people are allowed to break other people down instead of building them up.  My Grams had a saying that if you didn’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.  All the haters out there might want to take her advice.

  • Im not gonna be so nice. Hey j/off get your jollies elsewhere Noone wants to here your moronic and pathetic comments. This is a fan blog run by a talented writer and if you don’t like it and if you don’t like the show then stay out! Jersey shore needs another fan buddy have at it
