The influence of the "Twilight" series is reflected in the names given to newborns in the U.S. and Hawaii.
Nationwide, Isabella and Jacob, names of the female protagonist who becomes a vampire and the werewolf who vied for her affection in "Twilight," are the king and queen of the crib for second year in a row, according to the Social Security Administration’s annual list of top baby names for 2010.
In Hawaii, Jacob is the second most popular name for boys while the most popular name is Noah. Elijah, Joshua and Ethan round out the top five.
For girls in Hawaii, Isabella is the top pick, followed by Sophia, Chloe, Ava and Emma.
The top names nationwide are Jacob, Ethan, Michael, Jayden and William for boys and Isabella, Sophia, Emma, Olivia and Ava for girls.
As for popular Hawaiian names, the first one for boys — Kai — shows up in the No. 18 slot locally and 205th on the nationwide list.
For girls, it’s Malia at the 21st position in Hawaii and 302nd nationally.
Other popular Hawaiian names are Kaimana, Nainoa, Kanoa, Keanu, Kainoa and Kekoa for boys. For girls, there are Kaia, Leilani, Mahina, Maile and Kailea.
The federal agency said the second fastest rising name on the list is Kellan. Actor Kellan Lutz played Emmett Cullen in "Twilight."
For girls, the biggest climber is Tiana, the name of the main character in the Disney movie, "Princess and the Frog" and Disney’s first African-American movie princess.
