Nearly 200 thinkers from 30 countries are due to gather in Honolulu next week for the 10th East West Philosophers’ Conference.

The theme of the conference scheduled to start Monday is “Value and Values: Economics and Justice in an Age of Global Interdependence.”

Participants are to discuss the relationship between economics and ethics. They’ll address such questions as what the appropriate relationship is between worth and what is worthwhile. They’re also expected to talk about different visions of what constitutes a moral life.

The meeting is funded by the Philosophy Department at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and the East-West Center. It will be held at the East-West Center and is due to last through May 24.
