Honolulu police said they discovered a large amount of cash and methamphetamine after searching the apartment of a 40-year-old woman who had been arrested on drug charges a day earlier.

The arrest by HPD’s District 4 (Kailua-Kaneohe-Kahuku) Crime Reduction Unit was the culmination of a six-month investigation of suspected drug dealing activity, police said Wednesday.

The woman was arrested Friday in a Pearl City parking lot on a first-degree charge of promoting a dangerous drug. The investigation continued on Saturday when a search warrant was executed at the woman’s Aiea apartment.

Officers recovered a total of 3.25 pounds of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $135,000, along with more than $62,000 in U.S. currency.

HPD officials said they believe that this case may be linked to a mainland drug ring.  The suspect was arrested, booked, and released pending further investigation.

The investigation has been turned over to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s Honolulu office, police said.
