Plumbing firm to liquidate

Andrew Gomes

Local plumbing contractor B.J. Genz Plumbing filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy liquidation yesterday.

The firm, based at Niu Valley Shopping Center, has a 20-year history and also did business as Koko Head Plumbing. Another former name for the company is East Oahu Plumbing.

According to the bankruptcy filing, B.J. Genz has debts between $100,000 and $500,000. Total assets are between $50,000 and $100,000.

The company indicated that it anticipates some money will be available for distribution to unsecured creditors.

Company owners Gindi and Lloyd French could not be reached yesterday. An answering machine at the company’s office played back-to-back conflicting messages yesterday, first saying a company representative was on another line, then saying the business was closed for the weekend.

Harrison Chung, a local attorney who filed the bankruptcy petition for B.J. Genz, declined comment.
