Suspect in Heeia Kea fight released
A 28-year-old man who was arrested in connection with a Memorial Day fight at Heeia Kea Pier that left a man in critical condition was released Friday, pending investigation.
The man was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of first-degree assault after police asked for the public’s help in finding witnesses to the fight.
Officers responded to a large fight and found an unresponsive man with head injuries near the boat launch area at about 6 p.m. Monday. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said they believe a man punched the victim, who fell and hit his head on the asphalt.
