A motorcyclist killed in a crash early Sunday morning has been identified by the city Medical Examiner’s Office as Tyron Antonio-Schmidt, 21, of Kapolei.

Examiners said Antonio-Schmidt died from injuries sustained during the crash, which has been ruled an accident.

Pollice said the crash happened at 12:55 a.m. on Malakole Street in Campbell Industrial Park when the victim, driving a 2006 Yamaha, lost control and laid the motorcycle down, sliding into concrete barriers. Antonio-Schmidt was thrown from the motorcycle, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a helmet and excessive speed may have been a factor in the crash, police said.

His death was the 26th on Oahu roads so far this year.
