Woman arrested for allegedly hiding shoplifter
A 44-year-old woman is in police custody after allegedly hiding a man wanted for shoplifting.
Police said the man, 48, took off the security sensors from clothes at a Honolulu store and left without paying on the afternoon of June 9.
He assaulted a security guard who tried to stop him and drove off, police said.
Officers found the man, who reported no local address, on Auhuhu Street in Pearl City Tuesday about 10:20 a.m. and booked him on suspicion of robbery.
The woman, who also has no local address, was also arrested at the scene for investigation of first-degree hindering prosecution after she allegedly tried to conceal the man’s whereabouts.
